Manchester United will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Cameroonian international Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by French outlet L’Equipe, Carlos Baleba is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are eager to reinforce their first-team squad by signing a dynamic midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, the 21-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion prospect has emerged as a target for them.
The struggling Premier League giants are in pole position to sign the former LOSC Lille star in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the youngster did not “close doors” to Manchester United, with the Red Devils confident of agreeing to terms for his deal. A report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football has suggested that he will cost over £100 million this summer.
The rise and rise of Carlos Baleba
Carlos Baleba has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the Premier League since joining Brighton & Hove Albion from LOSC Lille in August 2023. The Cameroonian international hit the ground running at the Amex Stadium, and he has gone from strength to strength in the last two years.
The 21-year-old has turned out 77 times thus far for Brighton & Hove Albion while chipping in with four goals and two assists. Meanwhile, Baleba’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Manchester United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Carlos Baleba has been on Manchester United’s radar for a long time. The continued interest is understandable, considering Casemiro’s long-term future at Old Trafford is uncertain. Additionally, Manuel Ugarte has struggled to make his mark since joining Manchester United from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
Several candidates, including Gabriel Sara, have emerged on Manchester United’s radar, with Baleba also a viable target. The struggling Premier League giants have established contact over a possible move, and they lead the battle for his signature.
However, Baleba will not come cheap, with Brighton & Hove Albion demanding over £100 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can land the 21-year-old Cameroonian international in the coming weeks.
