LAFC advance move to sign Son Heung-min

MLS club LAFC will reportedly look to sign 33-year-old South Korean international Son Heung-min from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Son Heung-min is the subject of interest from LAFC. The American giants have been keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 33-year-old Tottenham Hotspur veteran has emerged as a target for the MLS outfit.

The Black and Gold Falcons have intensified their efforts to sign the Asian attacker in the summer transfer window after advancing the talks with all parties over a possible move. While Saudi Pro League clubs would like to sign Son, LAFC will aim to beat the competition to the Tottenham captain’s signature.

Son Heung-min and his Tottenham journey so far

Son Heung-min has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Bayer Leverkusen in August 2015 in a deal worth £22 million. The 33-year-old has enjoyed a fruitful and productive decade with the North London outfit, capping off the long search for a trophy by winning the UEFA Europa League in the 2024/25 season.

The South Korean international has turned out over 450 times thus far for Tottenham Hotspur while chipping in with 173 goals and 101 assists. Having become one of Tottenham’s greatest-ever players, served the North London outfit as the club captain and guided them to a trophy, Son might feel now is the right time for him to embark on a new adventure.

What next?

Widespread reports have suggested that a summer departure from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium may be on the cards for Son Heung-min. MLS may be his next destination, and the experienced attacker is inching closer to joining LAFC in the summer transfer window.

The Tottenham captain has been on LAFC’s radar for several weeks, and the talks to seal a summer deal have ramped up in the last few days. With Son losing pace and power in recent seasons, moving to MLS may be the ideal call for him.

While Saudi Pro League clubs are ready to cough up a sizeable fee to secure his services, a cut-price move to MLS is likelier. With LAFC advancing talks to sign the 33-year-old South Korean international, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.
