Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing 16-year-old Fulham wonderkid Seth Ridgeon, but the Cottagers want to keep him.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are keen on signing Seth Ridgeon. The Fulham prodigy is also a target for other Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa and Manchester City. However, the Cottagers are fighting tooth and nail to keep the 16-year-old wonderkid at the West London club for the long haul.
Who is Seth Ridgeon?
Seth Ridgeon is the latest highly-rated whizkid to rise in prominence in his homeland. The teenage sensation is partly of Sri Lankan heritage from his mother’s side and is on the cusp of making history if and when he makes his Premier League bow.
Meanwhile, the 16-year-old has been excellent in age-group football in his homeland, having already turned out for Fulham’s under-18 and under-21 sides. Meanwhile, Ridgeon’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
High in demand
It is hardly surprising that the English midfield sensation is a target for Chelsea. The Blues are renowned for constantly dipping their toes in the market for highly-rated prospects. Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez will be the latest prodigies to arrive at Stamford Bridge this year. Meanwhile, Ridgeon is also a viable option to be a long-term midfield solution for Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in Seth Ridgeon makes sense. While Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister have forged a top-class partnership in the middle of the park, the Reds can future-proof their midfield unit by signing a teenage sensation like Ridgeon. So, the Fulham wonderkid is an option worth considering for Liverpool.
As for Manchester United, the Red Devils have a proven track record of nurturing highly-rated prospects and helping them break into their first-team squad. So, it is hardly surprising that Ridgeon has emerged on Manchester United’s radar. However, Fulham will aim to keep the 2008-born whizkid at the West London club for the long run.
The Cottagers consider Ridgeon the “crown jewel” of their academy, and they are “fighting to keep hold” of the 16-year-old English youth international. So, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and the other prospective suitors may face frustrations in the battle for his signature.
