Everton enter Liam Delap chase

Everton will compete with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool to sign 22-year-old Englishman Liam Delap from relegation-threatened Premier League club Ipswich Town.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Liam Delap is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the Ipswich Town attacker. Meanwhile, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are also keen on signing the English centre-forward from the relegation-threatened Premier League club.

Liam Delap, finding his feet in the Premier League

Liam Delap has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League since joining Ipswich Town from Manchester City last summer. The Englishman has seen his career take off this season, even though he has been a rare bright spot in a forgettable campaign for the Tractor Boys.

The 22-year-old has contributed to 14 goals in 30 Premier League appearances thus far, finding the back of the net 12 times and providing two assists. Delap’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several Premier League bigwigs. Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are keen on signing the highly-rated striker, with Everton joining the chase.

A man in demand

Chelsea will dip into the market for a striker in the summer transfer window after failing to sign Victor Osimhen last summer. While Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu are top-notch options, Enzo Maresca wants more firepower in the final third. So, Delap has emerged as a viable target for Chelsea. As for Liverpool, Darwin Nunez faces an uncertain future at Anfield heading into the summer transfer window.

So, Liam Delap is one of the candidates on Liverpool’s wishlist, with the English striker’s suitability to Arne Slot’s system making him an attractive target. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s interest in the Ipswich Town centre-forward makes sense. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have not been prolific enough in the final third this season. So, the Red Devils need a new striker this summer.

As for Everton, Dominic Calvert-Lewin should depart from the Merseyside club as a free agent. In addition, Armando Broja will unlikely complete a permanent move and instead return to Chelsea after his loan deal ends. So, the 22-year-old Englishman has emerged as a viable target for Everton.

Meanwhile, Delap will likely be available for £40 million in the summer transfer window if Ipswich Town cannot avoid relegation from the Premier League. It will be interesting to see if Everton can beat Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United to the English striker’s signature.
