Aston Villa, Newcastle United lead race to sign Noni Madueke

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are reportedly best placed to sign 23-year-old English winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Noni Madueke faces an uncertain future at Chelsea heading into the summer transfer window. Aston Villa and Newcastle United are keen on signing the English attacking prospect, with the two ambitious Premier League clubs in the pole position to land the highly-rated winger.

Noni Madueke and his Chelsea journey

Noni Madueke has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in a deal worth £30 million in January 2023. While the Englishman has shown flashes of brilliance, he has been part of the problem at the West London club due to his inconsistency in the final third.

The Blues have become over-dependent on Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson, with the other attackers being mercurial in the final third. Nevertheless, Madueke has enjoyed a solid 2024/25 campaign, contributing to 12 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net eight times and providing four assists.

However, Madueke’s stock in the market is high, with several well-known clubs setting their sights on him. Ambitious Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing the English attacking prospect, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Aston Villa’s interest in Noni Madueke is understandable. The Villans are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding their ability to seal permanent deals for Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio. So, the Chelsea winger is a viable target for Aston Villa.

As for Newcastle United, Miguel Almiron departed from St. James’ Park in the winter transfer window. However, the Magpies are yet to replace the Paraguayan international. So, Madueke is an option worth considering for Newcastle United. The latest update has pinned them as one of the favourites to sign the 23-year-old Englishman.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are the front-runners to land the Chelsea winger, although they might face stiff competition from other Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur. It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the English attacker.
