Premier League champions Chelsea remain keen on signing 20-year-old Spanish striker Samu Aghehowa from FC Porto in one of the two transfer windows this year.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Samu Aghehowa is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues have been scouring the market for a striker heading into the winter transfer window. So, the FC Porto attacker has emerged as a target, with the Portuguese giants ready to sell the Olympics 2024 gold medalist for less than his release clause of €100 million.
The rise and rise of Samu Aghehowa
Samu Aghehowa has seen his stock skyrocket in the last 18 months. A native of Melilla, the Spaniard spent his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the youth division at Granada CF. Atletico Madrid signed the youngster in August 2023 before sending him on loan to Deportivo Alaves.
However, the 20-year-old could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Atletico Madrid, with Los Blancos shipping him to FC Porto last summer. Meanwhile, Aghehowa has been excellent thus far this term, contributing to 20 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net 18 times and providing two assists.
In addition, the highly-rated striker was part of Spain’s squad at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with the European nation winning the gold medal. Meanwhile, the Spanish striker’s stock in the market remains high. Several high-profile clubs across Europe are keen on signing the youngster, with Chelsea among the prospective suitors for his signature.

Chelsea mulled over signing Samu Aghehowa in the summer transfer window before the deal failed to see the light of day. The continued interest in the highly-rated attacker makes sense, considering Nicolas Jackson has blown hot and cold after a top-class start to the 2024/25 season.
So, Aghehowa has emerged as a viable target, with Chelsea considering pursuing him in one of the two transfer windows this year. Meanwhile, the Spaniard’s contract with FC Porto has a release clause worth €100 million.
