Chelsea will happily part ways with Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, and Tosin Adarabioyo if they re-sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this year.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Marc Guehi remains the subject of interest from Chelsea. While a winter deal might not see the light of day, the Blues are keen on re-signing the Crystal Palace defender in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, they are ready to sanction the departures of three defenders if they land the English international, a target for Newcastle United.
Marc Guehi and his rise at Crystal Palace
Marc Guehi has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace from Chelsea in July 2021. Born in Abidjan, the Ivory Coast native spent his formative years in England and graduated from the youth division at Chelsea.
However, the 24-year-old could never establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea selling him to Crystal Palace three and a half years ago. Guehi has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for the South London club while chipping in with eight goals and three assists.
Meanwhile, Guehi’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. A move across the Premier League might be on the cards, with Chelsea and Newcastle United vying for his signature. The Blues are ready to sell three defenders — Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, and Tosin Adarabioyo — if they re-sign the English international.
A big summer move beckons?
Newcastle United mulled over signing Marc Guehi in the summer transfer window before the deal failed to see the light of day. The continued interest in the Englishman is understandable, considering Lloyd Kelly faces an uncertain future at St. James’ Park amid his links with Juventus. In addition, Dan Burn, Fabian Schar, and Jamaal Lascelles are on the wrong side of 30.
However, Chelsea will aim to beat Newcastle United to the signature of the former academy ace. While the Blues have alternatives on their radar, they want to focus on re-signing Guehi from Crystal Palace. However, a winter move will unlikely see the light of day, with Chelsea ready to wait until the summer to land him.
Chelsea will happily offload Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, and Tosin Adarabioyo if they re-sign Guehi. The English international can be Levi Colwill’s long-term central defensive partner, and it will be interesting to see if the West London club can beat Newcastle United to his signature.
