Everton and Fulham are reportedly interested in signing 24-year-old Dutch full-back Milan van Ewijk from EFL Championship club Coventry City this month.
According to a report by ESPN Netherlands, Everton and Fulham are keen on signing Milan van Ewijk in the winter transfer window. The two Premier League clubs want to bolster their right-back berths this year, with AS Roma also eager to land the 24-year-old full-back from EFL Championship club Coventry City this month.
Who is Milan van Ewijk?
Milan van Ewijk has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the EFL Championship since joining Coventry City from Heerenveen in July 2023. A native of Amsterdam, the Dutchman spent his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the youth division at Excelsior Maassluis.
The 24-year-old has gone from strength to strength in the last 18 months, establishing himself as a mainstay at the back for Coventry City. The player has amassed over 2,500 minutes of game time across 30 appearances in all competitions this season, chipping in with two goals and one assist.
Meanwhile, van Ewijk’s progress at Coventry City has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known Premier League clubs. Everton and Fulham are keen on signing the Dutch full-back from the EFL Championship club in the winter transfer window.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Everton’s interest in Milan van Ewijk is understandable, although they do not need a new right-back in the winter transfer window. Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman are in the twilight of their careers, while Nathan Patterson has struggled with fitness issues at Everton. So, several candidates, including Kyle Walker-Peters, have emerged on the Toffees’ radar, with van Ewijk also a viable target.
As for Fulham, the Cottagers are scouring the market for a right-back after losing Kenny Tete to a long-term injury. In addition, recent reports have linked Tete with Ajax. So, van Ewijk has emerged as a viable target for Fulham, and the Dutchman can compete with Timothy Castagne for the right-back berth.
Meanwhile, Everton and Fulham face stiff competition from AS Roma for the 24-year-old Coventry City full-back. It will be interesting to see where the Dutch defender lands if he leaves the EFL Championship club in the winter transfer window.
