Newcastle United unlikely to launch Loic Bade move this month

Newcastle United will unlikely launch the offensive to sign 24-year-old Sevilla defender Loic Bade, thus boosting Liverpool’s prospects of landing him this month.

According to a report by The Sun, Loic Bade is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. However, the Tyneside outfit will likely endure a quiet winter transfer window. The development has boosted Liverpool’s prospects, with the Merseyside club keen on signing the Sevilla centre-back. Meanwhile, the French defender has a release clause worth £50 million in his contract with the Andalusian outfit.

The rise of Loic Bade at Sevilla

Loic Bade has established himself as one of the best young prospects in La Liga since joining Sevilla from Stade Rennais. Los Nervionenses initially signed the Frenchman in January 2023 after he struggled at Nottingham Forest in the first half of the 2022/23 season. The youngster completed his permanent move in the subsequent summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has been a mainstay at the back for Sevilla in the last 24 months, turning out 76 times thus far for the Andalusian outfit while chipping in with two goals and two assists. Bade also made his make in international football as he was part of the squad that won the silver medal at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Meanwhile, the French defender’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the Sevilla centre-back, with Liverpool and Newcastle United vying for his signature.

Premier League adventure on the horizon?

Newcastle United’s interest in Loic Bade is understandable. The Magpies were keen on signing two centre-backs in the summer transfer window but managed only Lloyd Kelly’s signature. So, they have been eager to land another central defender this month. Bade is thus a viable target. However, Newcastle United will likely endure a quiet winter window, meaning they will not land the Sevilla star.

The development has boosted Liverpool’s prospects, with the Merseyside outfit vying for his signature. Virgil van Dijk is on the wrong side of 30, while Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez have struggled with fitness issues. So, Liverpool should sign a top-class centre-back this year, with the Frenchman emerging as a viable target.

The Sevilla defender has a release clause worth £50 million in his contract with the Andalusian outfit. However, the 2024 Olympics silver medalist might be available for as little as £20 million. So, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool can land the 24-year-old French defender for a cut-price sum in the winter transfer window.
