Manchester United increase attention on Ederson

Manchester United are reportedly increasing the pressure to sign 25-year-old Brazilian international Ederson, although Atalanta will resist a winter sale.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Ederson is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils have increased their attention on the Atalanta midfielder, who will cost at least €60 million. However, the Serie A giants do not want to part ways with the Brazilian international in the January transfer window.

Ederson and his rise at Atalanta

Ederson has come leaps and bounds since joining Atalanta from Salernitana in July 2022. The South American midfielder has been one of the best players in Serie A in recent seasons, and he has been pivotal in his club’s exceptional run in 2024.

The 25-year-old has turned out over 100 times thus far for Atalanta while chipping in with ten goals and three assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, helping him establish a foothold in his national squad. He made his debut for Brazil earlier this year and has made two appearances for the Selecao.

The Brazilian international’s exploits have also piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the Atalanta midfielder, with Manchester United among his prospective suitors.

Premier League adventure beckoning?

Manchester United’s interest in Ederson is understandable. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a midfielder ahead of the two transfer windows next year amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. The duo will likely leave Manchester United next year, and the Premier League outfit should sign a replacement.

So, the Atalanta midfielder has emerged as a viable target for Manchester United, with the Red Devils intensifying their efforts to secure his services by “increasing the attention” on him. Meanwhile, Atalanta will demand at least €60 million to part ways with the Brazilian international next year.

However, the Serie A giants do not want to part ways with the 25-year-old midway through the season, considering they are in the title race. So, Manchester United must wait until the summer transfer window to land the €60 million-rated midfielder.
