Chelsea prepared to trigger Franco Mastantuono release clause

Chelsea are prepared to make their move for Franco Mastantuono as they are willing to trigger his release clause ahead of January.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea are set to make yet another headline young signing in the form of Franco Mastantuono. The Blues are willing to trigger the teenager’s mammoth €45 million release clause ahead of January, which could see the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City lose out on the River Plate talent.

Franco Mastantuono has already proven his level with some top-notch performances for River Plate at a very young age. He is already a key member of Marcelo Gallardo’s side, and the manager will not like the idea of seeing him depart so soon into his career with the Argentine club.

A €45 million release clause protects River Plate, and they hope to get paid very close to that sum when they sell Mastantuono. Hence, they are already planning to demand a significant sum, although Chelsea are now reportedly ready to trigger his release clause.

The Blues have held advanced talks for the 17-year-old South American prodigy over the last few days, as they are ready to pay what is necessary to beat off the competition for the teenager. Chelsea have built a strong reputation for signing the best young profiles in the world, and Mastantuono certainly fits the bill.

Chelsea’s intention to trigger his €45 million release clause will be designed to get ahead of the competition for the teenager. Real Madrid and Manchester City are interested and may still have a chance to sign him if they are willing to pay the release clause in his River Plate contract.

Chelsea will sign a gem in Mastantuono

Should a deal be agreed upon, Mastantuono will come into the mix at Chelsea as a promising talent to shore up the attack for the future. He has the talent to challenge the established order in Joao Felix and Cole Palmer to a certain degree, as his mature performances have drawn the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid to him.

Manchester City are looking at young talents in the market as they could begin a significant rebuilding of their existing squad. On the other hand, Real Madrid are always on the lookout for top talents, and the South American market brings a regular hunting ground for them; they might not have missed the beat in scouting the likes of Mastantuono.
