Real Madrid will reportedly look to sign 23-year-old Ecuadorian international Willian Pacho from Paris Saint-Germain next year.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Willian Pacho is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the market for a centre-back ahead of the two transfer windows next year. So, the 23-year-old Paris Saint-Germain defender has emerged as one of the top targets for Los Blancos.
The rise of Willian Pacho
Willian Pacho has taken no time to hit the ground running since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth €40 million in the summer transfer window. The South American defender rose in prominence during his spell in the Bundesliga, with several well-known clubs showing interest in him earlier this year before PSG swooped into the picture.
The 23-year-old has amassed over 1,000 minutes of game time across 14 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with one assist. Meanwhile, Pacho’s exploits at PSG have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid.
La Liga adventure on the cards?
The 22-cap Ecuadorian international has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. The reigning La Liga champions were also interested in the young defensive prospect ahead of the 2024 winter transfer window after losing David Alaba and Eder Militao to long-term knee injuries.
Alaba has yet to return from that issue, while Militao has picked up another long-term knee injury that has ruled him out for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. So, Real Madrid should dip into the market for a centre-back in the January transfer window.
Several candidates, including Murillo, have emerged on Real Madrid’s radar, although the reigning La Liga champions are keeping their options open. So, Pacho is a viable target, although the 22-cap Ecuadorian international will likely cost a bomb, considering his potential and age profile.
It will be surprising to see PSG entertaining bids for the 23-year-old former Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back. However, the Ligue 1 champions will likely look to make a sizeable profit on the €40 million they paid to sign Pacho in the summer transfer window if they consider parting ways with him next year amid his links with Real Madrid.
