Arsenal, Manchester City scouted Randal Kolo Muani during international break

Arsenal and Manchester City reportedly scouted 25-year-old Paris Saint-Germain attacker Randal Kolo Muani during the international break.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Arsenal and Manchester City are keen on signing Randal Kolo Muani. Paris Saint-Germain will be open to parting ways with the 25-year-old misfit on a short-term deal in the January transfer window. The situation appeals to the two Premier League bigwigs.

Randal Kolo Muani and his PSG woes

Randal Kolo Muani has struggled to make his mark since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth £65 million in August 2023. The Frenchman returned to his homeland with hype and fanfare surrounding him after an exceptional debut season with the Bundesliga outfit.

However, the 25-year-old attacker has struggled to justify the heavy investment of £65 million since joining PSG. Kolo Muani’s woes have continued this season, as he has managed only 416 minutes of game time across 12 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with two goals.

While the French international has his issues at PSG, he remains in the scheme of things in the national setup, with Didier Deschamps picking him in the latest squad. In addition, Kolo Muani’s stock in the transfer market is high, with several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Arsenal and Manchester City, interested in securing his services next year. His agents have also offered him to many bigwigs.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Arsenal’s interest in Randal Kolo Muani is understandable. The Gunners are keen on reinforcing their offensive department in the January transfer window by signing a productive forward. So, the PSG misfit has emerged as a viable target for Arsenal. As for Manchester City, Julian Alvarez’s departure in the summer transfer window has created a void in the attacking unit.

With Manchester City overly dependent on Erling Haaland in the final third, pursuing someone like Kolo Muani makes sense. So, the Frenchman is an option worth considering for the Premier League champions. The two English bigwigs scouted him during the international break. Meanwhile, PSG will prefer to cash in on the struggling forward and recoup as much of the £65 million they paid to sign him last year.

So, the Ligue 1 champions are open to sanctioning a loan deal for the 2022 FIFA World Cup finalist. The prospect appeals to Arsenal and Manchester City, with the two Premier League clubs ready to land him on a short-term deal in the January transfer window.
