Manchester United are reportedly looking to secure a deal for Geovany Quenda imminently before greeting his arrival in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Portuguese outlet A Bola, Geovany Quenda is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a wide player ahead of the two transfer windows next year. So, the Sporting CP wonderkid has emerged as a target, with the teenage sensation familiar with Ruben Amorim’s system.
The report has claimed that Quenda had been on Manchester United’s radar much before they showed interest in Ruben Amorim. The Premier League heavyweights want to secure a deal for the youngster imminently before greeting his arrival in the summer transfer window. However, they will unlikely trigger his release clause of €100 million to land his signature.
The rapid rise of Geovany Quenda
Geovany Quenda has established himself as one of the best young prospects in his homeland since breaking into the first-team squad at Sporting CP. The 17-year-old has been with the Primeira Liga heavyweights since July 2019 and has gone from strength to strength in the last half a decade.
The Portuguese teenage sensation made his first-team bow for Sporting CP at the onset of the 2024/25 season, turning out 18 times thus far this term while chipping in with two goals and two assists. Meanwhile, Quenda’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Manchester United.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Manchester United’s interest in Geovany Quenda is understandable. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a wide player ahead of the two transfer windows next year, and the Sporting CP whizkid has emerged as a viable target, considering he is familiar with Ruben Amorim’s system.
Recent reports have claimed that Amorim has a gentleman’s agreement with Sporting CP regarding Viktor Gyokeres and Quenda. So, Manchester United will look to secure a deal for the latter imminently before leaving him at the Primeira Liga club until the end of the 2024/25 season. The youngster will then arrive at Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.
However, Manchester United will unlikely trigger the release clause of €100 million to sign Quenda and submit an opening bid worth around €40 million. However, it will be interesting to see if the buy-to-loan deal sees the light of day.
