Rasmus Hojlund will replace Joshua Zirkzee to spearhead the Manchester United attack against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Manchester United will aim to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford on Sunday evening. And Ruud van Nistelrooy does not have any new injury concerns hampering his preparations ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Leny Yoro (foot), Harry Maguire (calf), Tyrell Malacia (knee), Luke Shaw (calf), Kobbie Mainoo (hamstring), Mason Mount (knock), and Antony (ankle) remain on the sidelines. However, Malacia and Mount are closing in on returning to action.
Meanwhile, Ruud van Nistelrooy provided a brief team news update during his pre-match press conference. The Manchester United interim manager said, “Not many changes.”
“We’re still hoping and working hard to get Christian Eriksen part of the squad. He’s working hard to make it in the last moment. And other than that, there’s no news on players that will be available, any other than [Wednesday].”
Ruud van Nistelrooy will unlikely make many changes to the Manchester United starting lineup when they lock horns with Chelsea at Old Trafford this weekend. Andre Onana is an automatic pick between the sticks, with the home side lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against the West London outfit.
The backline should see one change, with Noussair Mazraoui replacing Victor Lindelof. Mazraoui’s return will mean Lisandro Martinez will return to the central defensive partnership, where he will pair up with Matthijs de Ligt. Mazraoui will feature on the left flank, with Diogo Dalot starting as the right-back.
As for the midfield unit, Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro should continue pairing up in the double pivot, with Christian Eriksen unlikely to be fit enough to start. Bruno Fernandes will reprise the no. 10 role, with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho retaining their spots as the wide attackers.
So, Amad Diallo misses out again, with Rashford and Garnacho continuing on the flanks. Finally, Rasmus Hojlund should return to the starting lineup as the central striker, replacing Joshua Zirkzee to lead the line for Manchester United against Chelsea.
Predicted Manchester United XI: Onana; Dalot, de Ligt, Martinez, Mazraoui; Casemiro, Ugarte; Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund
