Manchester City will reportedly compete with Serie A giants Inter Milan and Juventus for 17-year-old Finnish midfield prodigy Matias Siltanen.
According to a report by Italian outlet Juve Live, Matias Siltanen is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Premier League champions have identified the Kuopion Palloseura prodigy as a target to bolster the Elite Development Squad. However, they will face stiff competition from Serie A giants Inter Milan and Juventus for the Finnish midfield prodigy.
Who is Matias Siltanen?
Matias Siltanen is a rare, highly-rated prospect to rise in prominence in Finland. The Finn has spent his formative years thus far in his homeland, progressing through the ranks at Kuopion Palloseura before breaking into the first-team squad at the club in April 2024.
The 17-year-old has already turned out nearly 50 times thus far for KuPS despite his nascent years while chipping in with one goal and five assists. Meanwhile, Siltanen’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Manchester City, Inter Milan, and Juventus.
High in demand
Manchester City regularly scour the market for highly-rated prospects, with the Elite Development Squad producing many world-class players in the last few years. Phil Foden has been the torchbearer for the EDS, with Rico Lewis and Oscar Bobb following in his footsteps. Siltanen has now emerged as a viable target for Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan’s interest in Matias Siltanen is understandable. With Henrikh Mkhitaryan approaching the twilight of his career and the Manchester City-linked Hakan Calhanoglu facing an uncertain future at San Siro, the Nerazzurri should invest in a young midfielder. So, the Finnish midfield prodigy has emerged as a target for the Serie A champions.
As for Juventus, Thiago Motta has a solid midfield unit after signing multiple midfielders in the summer transfer window. However, the Juventus manager wants to add to his options, with Siltanen emerging as an option worth considering for the Bianconeri.
While Inter Milan and Juventus are appealing destinations for the 17-year-old Finnish midfield prodigy, Manchester City will also be an enticing club. It will be interesting to see where the Kuopion Palloseura wonderkid lands when he leaves the club from Finland.
