La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing 18-year-old Dutch whizkid Jorrel Hato from Ajax.
According to a report by Spanish outlet MARCA, Jorrel Hato is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are keen on bolstering their defensive department by signing a left-footed centre-back. So, the 18-year-old Ajax whizkid has emerged as a target for Los Blancos.
The rapid rise of Jorrel Hato
Jorrel Hato has emerged as the latest highly-rated prospect in the Netherlands. A native of Rotterdam, the Dutchman has spent his formative years thus far in his homeland. He began his youth career in his hometown, passing through the academies at Sportclub Feyenoord and Sparta Rotterdam. However, he graduated from the youth division at Ajax.
The 18-year-old has been with Ajax since 2018 and has come leaps and bounds in the last half a dozen years. Hato has been a rare bright spot in a forgettable period for the Eredivisie giants, and he has already turned out 74 times thus far for Ajax while chipping in with three goals and five assists.
The Dutch defender has broken into his national side, making two appearances thus far for the Netherlands. Meanwhile, the teenage prospect’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, with the latest update producing links with Real Madrid.

Real Madrid’s interest in Jorrel Hato is understandable. The reigning La Liga champions are keen on reinforcing their defensive department by signing a right-back, a centre-back, and a left-back. As for the central defensive unit, Real Madrid will look to sign a left-footed defender who can be Eder Militao’s long-term partner at the heart of the backline.
With Antonio Rudiger on the wrong side of 30, the young left-footed centre-back can take over from the German international in a few years. So, several candidates, including Castello Lukeba, have emerged on Real Madrid’s radar, with Hato also a viable target. The Dutchman can also fill in as a left-back.
