Chelsea informed on Viktor Gyokeres situation, Tottenham more advanced

Premier League heavyweights Chelsea are reportedly keeping informed on Viktor Gyokeres, although London rivals Tottenham have a more concrete interest.

According to a report by Caught Offside, Viktor Gyokeres is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Sporting CP striker is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur, with the North London outfit more advanced in the chase. However, the Blues are also keeping informed on the situation of the 26-year-old goal machine, with Paris Saint-Germain also in the picture.

Viktor Gyokeres and his rapid rise

Viktor Gyokeres has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world since joining Sporting CP from Coventry City last year. The Swede was already a promising centre-forward during his spell with the EFL Championship outfit before moving to the Portuguese club in July 2023.

However, the 26-year-old has taken his game up several notches in the last 12 months, scoring goals for fun throughout his spell with Sporting CP. Gyokeres has remained productive in the early days of the 2024/25 season, contributing to 12 goals in seven games thus far by finding the back of the net nine times and providing three assists.

The Swedish international has also continued that form for his national side, recently stamping his authority in this month’s international break. Meanwhile, Viktor Gyokeres’s exploits for his club and country have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs in the last 12 months, including Chelsea and Tottenham.

London calling?

Chelsea’s interest in Viktor Gyokeres is understandable. The West London club could not sign a senior striker in the summer transfer window, with Marc Guiu the only centre-forward arriving at Stamford Bridge. So, Gyokeres has emerged as a viable target for Chelsea, with the Blues keeping informed on his situation.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, they signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Bournemouth this past summer. So, it is unclear how Gyokeres will fit into the scheme of things, even though the Swede is more prolific than the English international. Nevertheless, the North London giants hold the “most concrete” interest in the Sporting CP attacker.

Meanwhile, Chelsea and Tottenham face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain in the battle for Gyokeres’s signature. It will be interesting to see where the 26-year-old Swedish striker lands if he leaves Sporting CP next year.
