Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur had the chance to sign Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Kingsley Coman could have moved to the Premier League in the summer transfer window. The French attacker’s representatives spoke with officials at Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur. However, a move did not materialise, and he remained at Bayern Munich.
Kingsley Coman and his career so far
Kingsley Coman has been a serial winner throughout his professional career, only failing to win a trophy last season. The Frenchman has lifted a league title in France, Italy, and Germany, enjoying incredible success with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and especially Bayern Munich in the past decade.
The 28-year-old has struggled with fitness issues throughout his spell with Bayern Munich but has been a solid performer whenever he has been fit and available. Coman has turned out nearly 300 times thus far for Die Roten while chipping in with 64 goals and 66 assists. However, he could have moved to the Premier League in the summer transfer window.
The latest update has revealed that Kingsley Coman’s representatives spoke with officials at Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur. Widespread reports also suggested that the France international came close to joining reigning Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal before Monday’s Saudi transfer deadline.
Coman could have moved to the Premier League
Arsenal briefly considered signing Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich, although Charles Watts has recently quashed such suggestions. With Mikel Arteta keen on bolstering his attack, they could have landed the French winger, although Raheem Sterling arrived from Chelsea. As for the West London club, they decided against signing Coman before turning to Jadon Sancho.
Sancho left Manchester United on last week’s deadline day, and Coman could have replaced the Englishman. However, Manchester United did not feel they needed another wide attacker in the first-team squad. Meanwhile, Tottenham had sufficient depth in the offensive department, even though Richarlison has struggled with fitness issues.
With Ange Postecoglou having Son Heung-min, Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Brennan Johnson for the wide positions, Tottenham did not need Coman. So, the 28-year-old serial winner remained at Bayern Munich, and the Bavarian giants will hope he can rediscover his best form under Vincent Kompany.
