Liverpool reject Nottingham Forest bid for Caoimhin Kelleher

Premier League heavyweights Liverpool have reportedly rejected a bid of a part-exchange deal from Nottingham Forest to sign Caoimhin Kelleher this summer.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Caoimhin Kelleher is the subject of interest from Nottingham Forest. The Tricky Trees have failed with an approach to sign the Liverpool goalkeeper after offering Matt Turner in the deal to sign the 25-year-old. However, the Reds have turned down the proposal from their fellow Premier League club.

Caoimhin Kelleher and his Liverpool frustrations

Caoimhin Kelleher has been a dependable performer for Liverpool since arriving from boyhood club Ringmahon Rangers in July 2015. The Irishman has gone from strength to strength in the near decade he has been with the Merseyside club, although he has been a backup player in the first-team squad for the longest time.

While the 25-year-old has produced heroic performances for Liverpool in cup competitions, regular game time elsewhere has only come his way when Alisson Becker has been unavailable. Kelleher has turned out nearly 50 times thus far for the Reds while keeping 15 clean sheets and conceding 59 goals.

However, after barely featuring for Liverpool outside the cup competitions, Kelleher has been eager to embark on a new adventure in the summer transfer window. Recent reports have linked the Republic of Ireland international with high-profile clubs like Celtic. However, a move across the Premier League might be on the cards.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Recent reports have claimed that Caoimhin Kelleher wants to remain in the Premier League after leaving Liverpool. Nottingham Forest could have offered him the escape route from Liverpool after approaching the Merseyside club with an offer for a part-exchange deal.

The Tricky Trees have been ready to offer Matt Turner in the deal to sign Kelleher from Liverpool. However, the Reds have turned down Nottingham Forest’s bid for a part-exchange deal, with Arne Slot ready to keep the 25-year-old Irishman at Anfield beyond the summer transfer window.

While the Republic of Ireland international is keen on leaving Liverpool to become the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere, Liverpool might not entertain offers for him this late in the summer transfer window, considering they will struggle to sign a replacement.
