Caoimhin Kelleher ready to quit Liverpool for Premier League move

Caoimhin Kelleher is ready to leave Liverpool for a rival English club in search of regular first-team action.

According to a report from Football Insider, Caoimhin Kelleher wants to make a move to a rival Premier League club in the upcoming transfer window. He doesn’t want to continue at Liverpool as their second choice in goal. While Celtic are keen on his signature, the Irish shot-stopper wants to continue in England.

Kelleher arrived at the Merseyside club back in 2015 from Ringmahon. He went up the ranks and got promoted to Liverpool’s first team in the summer of 2019 and has been a second choice to Brazilian star Alisson Becker for a while now.

The 25-year-old has only had limited game time at the club. Over the years, he has only featured in 47 matches for the Reds. The majority of those appearances came in the 2023/24 season because of an injury to Becker.

Kelleher wants to join a rival Premier League club

While Kelleher still has two years left on his deal, he wants to leave Liverpool in search of regular first-team action. He is aware of the fact that with Becker around, he is unlikely to be the number one at Anfield anytime soon. As a result, he seeks a move away from the club.

Celtic are one of the clubs keen on having the 25-year-old in their ranks. Brendan Rodgers’ team want to reinforce the goalkeeping position on a priority basis following the retirement of Joe Hart. They want the Liverpool star to be their new number one.

While the Reds are unlikely to stand in the Irish international’s way, they are looking to raise around £10 million which is a major hurdle for Celtic. The Scottish club have received another blow as the player doesn’t want to leave England.

He wants to continue in the Premier League and is ready to join a rival club. Kelleher has showcased his potential in the limited opportunities that he has had and is now determined to be a number at a rival club. Wolves are one of the clubs that have been linked with him and it will be interesting to see if they make a move for him.
