Intermediaries have reportedly approached Arsenal and Liverpool to coax them to pursue the signature of 23-year-old Napoli attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this summer.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, intermediaries have told Arsenal and Liverpool that Napoli attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will be available in the summer transfer window. However, the Serie A giants are not interested in parting ways with the 33-cap Georgian international, rejecting a few enquiries from Premier League clubs.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and his Napoli journey
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has established himself as one of the best players in Serie A since joining Napoli from Dinamo Batumi in July 2022. The 23-year-old hit the ground running at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, becoming a pivotal figure for the Partenopei in his debut season at the Serie A club.
Kvaratskhelia was integral in Napoli ending a wait of over three decades to win the elusive Serie A title in the 2022/23 season. However, the player’s performance levels dropped in the 2023/24 campaign, with Napoli struggling in the defence of the league crown. The player still managed a decent tally of 11 goals and eight assists in 34 Serie A outings last term.
Meanwhile, Kvaratskhelia’s stock in the market is as high as ever, with several high-profile clubs keen on signing him when the opportunity presents itself. In addition, intermediaries have approached clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool to convince them to pursue the 33-cap Georgian international. Some Premier League clubs approached Napoli, but the Serie A giants have turned them down.
Premier League move on the cards?
Arsenal can do with a player like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Mikel Arteta wants two top-notch options for every position. So, with Gabriel Martinelli blowing hot and cold in the 2023/24 season, Kvaratskhelia can be the Brazilian international’s competitor for the left-wing berth.
As for Liverpool, they are in a spot of bother over the long-term futures of Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah. With the latter on the wrong side of 30, it behoves the Reds to keep their options open. Kvaratskhelia is thus a viable target for Liverpool if they choose to pursue him.
The report does not mention which Premier League clubs enquired about the 33-cap Georgian international. However, a summer move will not see the light of day, with Aurelio De Laurentiis blocking his exit.
