Everton and Newcastle United are reportedly in talks over a double deal for Yankuba Minteh and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Yankuba Minteh will likely swap bases in the summer transfer window. Everton and Newcastle United are deep in talks over separate deals worth £40 million each for the two players.
Yankuba MInteh has yet to make his first-team bow for Newcastle United since arriving from Odense BK last summer. The Tyneside outfit immediately loaned him to Feyenoord, and the 19-year-old was excellent throughout the 2023/24 season in the final third. He amassed 11 goals and six assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for the Eredivisie outfit.
As for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Englishman has endured a topsy-turvy ride at Everton due to a few fitness issues in recent seasons. However, the 27-year-old stepped up in the final weeks of the 2023/24 season, ending the campaign with eight goals and three assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.
While Yankuba Minteh and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have shown promising signs in the 2023/24 season, both players will unlikely be at their respective clubs in the 2024/25 season. And they might swap bases in the summer transfer window, with Everton and Newcastle United in talks over separate deals worth £40 million each.
Recent reports have claimed that Minteh views Everton as his priority destination, even though the Toffees have blown hot and cold in the last few seasons. However, with game time likely to come at a premium in the 2024/25 season, joining Everton to continue the upward trajectory of his career is sensible.
