Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg has been linked with a summer move away from Tottenham, with Fenerbahce and Atletico Madrid keen on signing him.
According to TBR Football, Turkish giants Fenerbahce have now joined Atletico Madrid in the race to sign 28-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the summer transfer window.
The Danish international has been linked with London rivals Fulham as well. Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has taken over at Fenerbahce, and he is looking for a reunion with the Denmark international. It is no surprise that the Turkish giants are keen on signing the 28-year-old this summer.
They need more quality in the middle of the park, and Hojbjerg has proven himself in the Premier League over the years. He was a key player for Tottenham under the previous managers but has fallen down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou.
It makes sense for him to move on this summer in search of regular playing time and a move to Fenerbahce could be ideal for him. Jose Mourinho knows the player well, and he could be a good fit for the Portuguese manager’s style of play. It remains to be seen whether they can secure an agreement over a reasonable fee.
Hojbjerg would improve Fenerbahce immensely
The 28-year-old midfielder is at the peak of his career and he could make an instant impact in Turkey. With that said, Atletico Madrid are keen on the player as well, and they might be a more exciting destination. They will be able to compete for major trophies, and the opportunity to work under a world-class coach like Diego Simeone will be hard to turn down as well.
Fenerbahce are unlikely to be able to push for major trophies like the UEFA Champions League. So, the Denmark international might fancy a move to La Liga. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. Tottenham will be hoping that they can get rid of the player in the coming weeks and invest the proceeds from his departure on a new signing.
