Victor Osimhen is reportedly hoping Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United can sign him from Napoli in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calcio Napoli 24, Victor Osimhen hopes to join Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United in the summer transfer window. The Napoli striker is a target for the three Premier League clubs. However, only Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ahli are ready to trigger his massive release clause while offering him wages worth €15 million per season.
Victor Osimhen and his soaring stock
Victor Osimhen has been one of the best strikers in the world since joining Napoli from LOSC Lille in September 2020. While the Nigerian international endured some teething problems, he has not looked back since finding a stable footing at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
While Osimhen was not at his best in the 2023/24 season, fitness issues and off-field problems played a part in that. The 25-year-old still managed a decent tally of 17 goals and four assists in 2,476 minutes of game time across 32 appearances in all competitions. The striker’s progress has alerted high-profile clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, one of which he hopes to join.
A man in demand
Arsenal will delve into market for a striker in the summer transfer window. Mikel Arteta wants a prolific centre-forward, with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah failing to impress in the 2023/24 season. However, Arsenal will not trigger the excessive release clause in Osimhen’s contract, even though he is a viable target.
As for Chelsea, they also have the same stance over triggering the release clause to sign Victor Osimhen. However, the Nigerian international is an option worth considering, with the West London club eager to sign a productive striker in the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s interest is intriguing, considering Rasmus Hojlund is a long-term solution in the final third. The Red Devils need a backup for the Danish international, which Osimhen will not be in the 2023/24 season. Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ahli are the only club ready to trigger Osimhen’s release clause.
They are also ready to offer wages worth €15 million per season to lure him to Saudi Arabia. However, the 25-year-old Napoli striker hopes that he joins Arsenal, Chelsea, or Manchester United if he leaves the Serie A club Napoli in the summer transfer window.
