West Ham United suffer blow in their pursuit of Fabricio Bruno

West Ham’s deal to sign Fabricio Bruno could stall over the defender’s wage demands that would make him one of the highest earners at the London Stadium.

According to HITC, West Ham United and their deal to sign Fabricio Bruno could be in jeopardy, with the defender’s wage demands currently halting progress. The 28-year-old Brazilian international has asked for £100,000 per week, which would make him one of the highest earners at the London Stadium.

West Ham’s deal for Fabricio Bruno stalls

West Ham United seemed to have upped their game in the transfer market, as recent reports insisted they have already secured their first target. The Hammers agreed a deal with Flamengo for 28-year-old Brazilian international Fabricio Bruno, with the club reeling from a difficult season in which they suffered defensively.

The late-blooming defender has made a mark in recent times, including keeping a clean sheet against England during Brazil’s 1-0 win at Wembley. However, the deal to sign Bruno hit a snag after the defender’s £100,000-a-week wages were announced, as that would make him one of the highest earners at the London Stadium.

The report states that if West Ham agreed to those demands, Bruno would earn more than Tomas Soucek, Mohammed Kudus, and even Jarrod Bowen. However, the information needs further scrutiny and verification. The Hammers clearly believe the player is not worth that much of a wage, which has led to the feeling the deal might have stalled.

The Hammers were one of the worst defensive sides in the Premier League last season, and their constant goal conceders may have eventually cost David Moyes his job. New boss Julen Lopetegui might have hoped to bring Bruno to shore up his backline, although the deal might have passed them by with the current complications.

Triple blow for West Ham in Brazil?

Hammers director Tim Steidtn has been in Brazil, looking to conduct deals for at least three players. After successful negotiations with Flamengo for Bruno, West Ham also are keen on Luis Guilherme, the Palmeiras attacker. However, the Brazilian side are not overly interested in selling the teenager this summer.

Then they have an interest in Wesley Gassova of Corinthians, with reports back in April suggesting the Hammers may have failed with a bid. As things stand, West Ham is on the verge of a triple blow in Brazil, as Steidtn might end up seeing this long trip as a failure of sorts if he does manage to bring zero players in the process.
