West Ham United have failed with an attempt to sign 19-year-old Corinthians attacking sensation Wesley Gassova.

According to Jorge Nicola, West Ham United are interested in the services of Wesley Gassova. The Hammers have been linked with the 19-year-old winger for a while now, and they submitted a substantial offer for his services. But that bid has been turned down by Corinthians.

Wesley Gassova’s time at Corinthians

Wesley Gassova has come up the ranks at the Brazilian club. He was promoted to their first team last summer and has so far featured in 57 matches for the senior team. The teenager also has nine goal contributions to his name.

In the ongoing season, the left winger has been involved in 19 matches and has racked up over 1,000 minutes. While he only has three goal contributions to show for his efforts, his performances have put him on the radar of some of the top clubs from across Europe.

West Ham keen on the teenager’s signatures

West Ham United are one of the clubs that have been linked with the teenage sensation. They feel Wesley has the potential to do great things and are willing to invest in him. The Hammers do not have much depth on the left flank.

They only have limited options when it comes to wide areas and are looking to address the issues in the upcoming transfer window. The Hammers reckon the Corinthians winger could help their cause. As a result, West Ham did knock on the Brazilian club’s door for the 19-year-old signatures.

Corinthians reject West Ham’s offer

The East London club have been desperate to have Wesley Gassova in their ranks and placed a €15 million bid for the teenager. But, the offer has been turned down by the South American club as the report. The fact that Corinthians have rejected such a big offer for Wesley is something people are finding hard to believe.

They feel it is a strange situation, and if the offer was really €15 million, it should have been accepted. Even Jorge Nicola believes the club should have sanctioned his departure and used the money raised to reinforce their squad. And, the journalist is not really sure why club president Augusto Melo is so delighted with Wesley. Nevertheless, the offer has been knocked back, with West Ham in limbo.
