Manchester City are reportedly keen on signing Jamal Musiala, a target for Chelsea, from Bayern Munich this summer.
A report from The Guardian has claimed that Jamal Musiala is on the radar of Chelsea as well. But Manchester City have now made the Bayern Munich attacker their priority target heading into the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old attacker has been in impressive form this season, and he has 19 goal contributions in all competitions. He is widely regarded as one of the finest young attackers in European football and should prove to be a quality addition to the Manchester City attack. So, it is hardly surprising that they are eager to secure his services.
The Premier League champions crashed out of the UEFA Champions League earlier this week, and they struggled to break down a resilient Real Madrid defence. It is evident that they need to sign another technically-gifted attacker who can help open up deep defences with his creativity and technical ability.
Musiala could be the ideal fit for them. He is capable of operating as a central attacking material, a winger as well as a centre forward. His versatility will be an added bonus.
Musiala could fancy Manchester City move
Manchester City are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the opportunity to join them could be tempting for the young attacker. Bayern Munich are a big club as well, but they have not been at their best this season. It will be interesting to see if the 21-year-old is keen on a new challenge.
Working under Pep Guardiola could help him improve further and fulfil his world-class potential. Meanwhile, Chelsea need attacking reinforcements as well and have set their sights on Musiala. The Blues have been overly dependent on Cole Palmer this season. They need more depth and quality in the attack, and the 21-year-old will certainly improve them going forward.
However, convincing the German international to rejoin them could prove to be very difficult. Chelsea finished in the mid-table positions last year, and they are likely to finish in a similar position this year as well. Musiala will want to join a big club capable of winning major trophies. Chelsea are going through a period of rebuilding, and they might not be able to match up with the player’s ambitions.
Manchester City will probably be a more attractive destination, and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops. Both English clubs will have to pay a premium for him. He is highly rated in the Bundesliga, and Bayern Munich will not want to let him leave easily.
