Noni Madueke should replace Mykhailo Mudryk in the Chelsea starting lineup against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Sunday.
Chelsea will look to build on the incredible comeback win over Manchester United when they lock horns with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Sunday evening. And Mauricio Pochettino does not have any new issues to deal with ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Reece James, Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Lesley Ugochukwu, Romeo Lavia, and Christopher Nkunku remain on the sidelines. Meanwhile, Pochettino has been sweating over the fitness of Ben Chilwell and Robert Sanchez heading into this weekend’s Premier League clash with Sheffield United.
The Argentine tactician discussed Chilwell’s potential availability during his pre-match press conference, which happened after the post-game presser following the clash with Manchester United.
The Chelsea manager said, “We need to see with Chilly. Still he is not training. We will see if he can be involved [in training on Friday] but then Sunday is the game, so there isn’t much time. If he’s not ready for Sunday, then we hope for the next game he will be available.”
Pochettino’s comments do not offer much hope, even though he spoke about Chilwell over two days ago. However, with the Englishman dealing with persistent fitness issues, it is not sensible for the former Tottenham manager to risk him against Sheffield United this weekend.
So, Chelsea will start with Marc Cucurella as the left-back again, with the Spanish defender producing some impressive performances in the last few weeks. Cucurella will join Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, and Malo Gusto in the backline. Meanwhile, Djordje Petrovic is an automatic pick between the sticks in Sanchez’s absence, with Chelsea lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him.
As for the midfield unit, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez should continue their partnership in the double pivot. Conor Gallagher will reprise his usual no. 10 role, with Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson retaining their spots in the final third. So, the only change to the starting lineup will see Noni Madueke replacing Mykhailo Mudryk after his impressive cameo against Manchester United.
Predicted Chelsea XI: Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Badiashile, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Palmer, Gallagher, Madueke; Jackson
