Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United need to pay at least €60 million to sign Donyell Malen

Borussia Dortmund striker Donyell Malen is linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United keen.

A report from German publication Bild has claimed that Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United will have to pay €60 million to sign 25-year-old Dutch attacker Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund.

Malen has been a key player for Borussia Dortmund this season, amassing 13 goals and five assists in all competitions. The Dutchman is versatile enough to operate anywhere across the front three, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for all three clubs.

However, the €60 million asking price seems quite steep, and it is unlikely that the English clubs will be prepared to pay that much. Arsenal need a versatile forward like Malen who can slot in anywhere across the front three and allow Mikel Arteta to rotate some of their key players from time to time.

Malen could also be an alternative to Gabriel Jesus who has not been able to score goals consistently. However, Arsenal have other priorities in the squad as well, and they cannot afford to splash €60 million on a backup attacker.

Liverpool should prioritise the signing of a quality central defensive midfielder and a central defender at the end of the season. Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara will likely move on as free agents, and replacing them should be a top priority for the Reds. They are unlikely to be able to afford €60 million for Malen. Dortmund will have to be more reasonable with their demands to get the deal done.

Manchester United could afford Malen

As for Manchester United, the Red Devils might be able to afford the reported asking price for the Dutch attacker. They need to bring in a quality wide player who will chip in with goals and creativity.

Jadon Sancho is expected to be sold in the summer, and Antony has been linked with an exit from Old Trafford as well. Manchester United will look to invest the proceeds from their departures in a new player and the 25-year-old Dutchman would be the ideal acquisition for them.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops. Manchester United have been linked with a swap deal for the player as well. Malen has proven himself in Germany, and the opportunity to join some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League will be hard to turn down for him.

The 25-year-old will look to test himself against the best defenders in the Premier League, and he will hope that Borussia Dortmund can secure an agreement with his suitors soon.
