Barcelona contemplating Khvicha Kvaratskhelia summer move

La Liga champions Barcelona are reportedly considering a summer move for 23-year-old Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The reigning La Liga champions are in the market for an attacker heading into the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Napoli winger dreams of joining Real Madrid.

The Rise of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world since joining Napoli from Dinamo Batumi in July 2022. The Georgian international rose in prominence during his stint with Rubin Kazan before having a short stint in his homeland after the Russia-Ukraine war broke out.

The 23-year-old took to Serie A like a fish to water, immediately establishing himself as a pivotal figure for Napoli. He was instrumental as the Partenopei ended a three-decade-long wait to win the Serie A title last season. But Kvaratskhelia’s performance levels have dropped this term, contributing to only 11 goals in 31 appearances thus far.

He has found the back of the net six goals while providing five assists. In addition, the Serie A champions are enduring a horrific campaign, already sacking two managers while failing miserably in their title defence. Nonetheless, Kvaratskhelia’s stock remains high, with Barcelona among his prospective suitors.

Barcelona Calling?

Gianluca Di Marzio recently suggested that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia could end up at Barcelona or Real Madrid. Interestingly, the 23-year-old dreams of joining Real Madrid. But the report by Mundo Deportivo has claimed that he might be open to joining Barcelona, with Los Blancos not in the market to sign him.

Raphinha faces an uncertain future at the Catalan club, who must offload a few high-value assets to balance the books and fund summer signings. And Kvaratskhelia is a viable target to replace the Brazilian international, especially if Joao Felix does not complete a permanent move. With Lamine Yamal making the right-wing berth his own, the Georgian international can become a fixture on the left flank.

Other top clubs, including Liverpool, are also interested in the Serie A winner. So, it will be interesting to see if Barcelona can overcome the never-ending financial woes to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli this summer.
