Enzo Fernandez rules out Chelsea exit amid Barcelona links

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has been linked with a move away from the West London club in recent weeks.

Enzo Fernandez has been linked with clubs like Barcelona. But the 23-year-old Argentine international has now rubbished speculations surrounding his future, as quoted by ESPN.

“I don’t know where those rumours came from. Social networks I think. I totally deny it. I don’t want to leave Chelsea, I’m very happy here,” Fernández told ESPN, “Since the first day they [Chelsea] have treated me wonderfully, I am very grateful. Regardless of what happens in football, I am grateful and I am happy at Chelsea. I will continue [here] as long as they want.”

The 23-year-old has revealed that he is happy at Stamford Bridge, and he is looking to continue at Chelsea. We recently covered rumours that he had offered himself to Barcelona. The Spanish giants could certainly use a quality central midfielder like him.

The Blues are going through a disappointing phase right now. They finished in the mid-table positions last year and are in a similar place this year as well. Despite spending substantial amounts of money during the summer transfer window, they have not been able to turn things around.

Mauricio Pochettino is under a lot of pressure to get his side firing once again, and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea can finish the season strongly. There is no doubt that they have a quality squad at their disposal, and they have been underperforming for over a year now.

Enzo Fernandez is certainly one of the best young midfielders in world football right now, and he helped his country win the 2022 FIFA World Cup. His performances have been impressive since the move to Chelsea. But he will be disappointed with the team’s overall performances so far.

Chelsea must show more ambition

The Argentine midfielder will hope to win major trophies with Chelsea, who must improve quickly to hold on to ambitious players like Enzo Fernandez. The 23-year-old midfielder is adept at controlling the tempo of the game and creating goalscoring opportunities for his teammates with his long passing from the deep.

He can be quite dangerous with his shooting from the long range as well. Fernandez has all the tools to develop into a world-class midfielder, and Chelsea will hope to hold on to him for as long as possible. His desire to continue at Stamford Bridge for now will certainly come as a major boost for the Blues.
