Tottenham Hotspur are ready to reignite their interest in 24-year-old Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher on one condition.
According to a report by The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in the services of Conor Gallagher and they could reignite their pursuit in the next summer transfer window. The Chelsea midfielder’s future at the club is uncertain and Spurs are willing to make a move if doesn’t extend his stay before the end of the season.
Gallagher has been on the verge of parting ways with his childhood club on multiple occasions but it hasn’t happened yet. But, there is a possibility of a potential a move away from the London club in the near future.
On the back of an impressive loan spell at Crystal Palace, the England international was promoted to the Chelsea first team in the summer of 2022. While he has often been linked with a move away, the 24-year-old has been a consistent performer for the Blues.
He wasn’t really a part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans before the start of the 2023/24 season. The Blues were ready to sanction his departure. He ended up staying at the club and has since worked his way into the plans of the former Spurs boss.
Uncertainty Surrounds Gallagher’s Future
Gallagher is now a mainstay of their team and the Argentine manager is keen on having him in their ranks. But, his contract is what complicates the situation. The 24-year-old only has just over a year left on his deal with the London club.
The Blues are keen on extending his stay at the club and the expectation is that they will offer him some sort of an extension offer in the future. As things stand, there is no significant progress over a new contract and there is no guarantee that Gallagher will put pen on paper if he doesn’t get the kind of wages he is looking for.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs that have been interested in the 24-year-old. They wanted to sign him last summer but unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan back then.
Spurs’ Conditional Pursuit
While they didn’t follow up their interest in the winter, Spurs are still keeping a close eye on the England international and will reignite their pursuit only if he doesn’t end up signing a new deal before the end of the ongoing season.
Initially, the Blues were looking to avoid selling him to a direct rival but if he ends up entering the final year of his contract, Chelsea will not be the ones in the driving seat and they might have to settle for less than what they expected.
