Leeds United closing in on Mateusz Musialowski

Leeds United are reportedly close to securing the signature of Liverpool forward Mateusz Musialowski, as his contract expires in six months.

According to Football Insider, Leeds United are closing in on Mateusz Musialowski’s signature as the Championship side could take advantage of his contract situation. Liverpool are open to letting him leave for a modest fee as the 20-year-old Liverpool attacker looks to get senior game time elsewhere.

Leeds United close to signing Mateusz Musialowski?

Leeds United are fourth in the Championship table and is eager to keep hold of their position or get even better in their quest to return to the top flight. They need a few players in different positions as they continue to work hard in the background to bring in signings.

One of their requirement is a backup striker, for which the market options are minimal. They were linked with Mateusz Musialowski a few days ago, as the 20-year-old Liverpool attacker entered the final six months of his deal.

Musialowski has performed well for Liverpool’s youth sides and has six goals in eleven games for their U21s. He remains eager to play first-team football, something he’s not going to achieve under Jurgen Klopp, especially considering the options the German has at his disposal.

Hence, Leeds are now closing in on his signature, with the idea of stationing him as a backup striker. In that role, the 20-year-old Liverpool attacker would get plenty of game time, thus opening up the chances for the future. The Championship side will likely take him permanently, considering the time remaining on his current deal at Anfield.

Leeds United set for a busy end to the window?

Not only are they keen on a backup striker, but there are defensive requirements that Leeds needs to address before the January window shuts. They are keen on Liverpool duo Calvin Ramsay and Nat Phillips, while they also wanted Tottenham’s Ben Davies earlier.

On the attacking front, there were fears about losing duo Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto. The latter seems to be staying at least until the summer, while the former was always expected to remain at the club despite links over a return to the Premier League.

Considering that, Leeds would see adding a few defenders and a backup striker as a successful window, but to achieve that, they might have a busy end to this window. As for Musialowski, he could prove a great addition to the side, which would help all parties concerned.
