Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing out-of-favour defensive duo Calvin Ramsay and Nathaniel Phillips from Liverpool.

A report from Daily Mail has claimed that Leeds United are looking to raid Liverpool for Calvin Ramsay and Nat Phillips. The out-of-favour defensive duo will likely leave the Merseyside club in the January transfer window.

Calvin Ramsay and his Liverpool Struggles

Calvin Ramsay has struggled for regular game time at Liverpool since joining the club, and he has recently recovered from a serious injury as well. He needs to play regularly at this stage of his career to continue his development. So, moving to the Championship club could be ideal for him. He is likely to get more opportunities at Leeds as compared to Liverpool.

The Whites are currently pushing for promotion to the top flight, and they need to add more quality and depth to their side before the January transfer window closes. Ramsay could prove to be a useful acquisition. He is highly rated around Europe and was expected to develop into a key player for Liverpool when he joined the club. However, his development has stagnated and he needs a fresh start right now. The right-back will add defensive quality to the side and help them going forward.

Nat Phillips Needs a Move

Nathaniel Phillips has been linked with the move away from Liverpool as well. He has not been a regular starter for the Reds but has been a very useful player for them whenever injuries have struck. He has shown his quality in the Premier League consistently and is certainly good enough to improve Leeds United in the Championship.

Leeds United are currently pushing for promotion to the Premier League, and the Liverpool defender could help them improve defensively. Ramsay and Phillips do not have a future at Liverpool. So, it makes sense for them to move on. It will be interesting to see if the Championship outfit try and sign the two players on loan this month.

Both players need a fresh start right now, and Leeds should look to take the advantage of their situations at Liverpool and snap them up. There is no doubt that they could hit the ground running in the Championship and aid the promotion push for the Whites.
