Sevilla interested in re-signing Bryan Gil

Sevilla are reportedly interested in re-signing 22-year-old Spanish winger Bryan Gil from Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report by Fichajes, Sevilla are keen on re-signing Bryan Gil. The 22-year-old winger’s future has become the talk of the town, and he could be on the move in the ongoing transfer window.

Bryan Gil and his Tottenham Struggles

Gil was a part of the Sevilla youth setup since his childhood days. He came up the ranks at the Andalusia club and made it to their first team in the winter of 2019. After multiple loan spells at different Spanish clubs, the 22-year-old parted ways with them and joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2021.

Things have not gone according to plan for the Spanish international since making the move to England. He has failed to break into their first team and has been subject to multiple loan spells. Gil returned to his parent club in the summer and has since featured in only nine matches. Everyone expected him to have a bigger role this season but that hasnot happened.

The 22-year-old has only racked up 207 minutes so far and with Tottenham signing Timo Werner, Gil’s game time will take a further hit. He is unlikely to get enough opportunities at the North London club. As a result, they are considering offloading him. According to the report, a potential sale clause could be a crucial aspect of negotiations in any potential loan deal.

Despite Son Heung-min’s absence because of his participation in the AFC Asian Cup, Ange Postecoglou is ready to sanction Gil’s departure. Meanwhile, multiple clubs are considering making a move for his services.

A Homecoming on the Cards

Sevilla are one of the clubs interested in the Spanish international. While Tottenham are looking to send him out on loan, the La Liga club could push to sign him on a permanent basis. They want to re-sign him and are ready to make a move if the departure of Erik Lamela or any other attacking player gets sanctioned.

While clubs are interested in the 22-year-old’s services and they have approached Tottenham, no club has contacted the players so far. Tottenham are considering parting ways but Gil remains 100% focused on the job at hand at the London club and has no intentions of parting ways as things stand.
