Tottenham will reportedly look to sign 23-year-old Spanish international Ferran Torres from Barcelona next summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Ferran Torres is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The 23-year-old faces an uncertain future at FC Barcelona and might seek a new adventure in the 2024 summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the North London giants have two other players in La Liga on their radar.
Ferran Torres and his Struggles at Barcelona
Ferran Torres has struggled to become an undisputed first-choice attacker for Barcelona since arriving from Manchester City. The Blaugrana had shelled out €55 million to land him in January 2022. But the Spanish international has not justified the investment in the last two years.
The 23-year-old has been in and out of the starting lineup throughout his near-two-year spell with Barcelona. But he has been a solid performer this term, amassing six goals and three assists in just 1,058 minutes of game time. But with game time coming at a premium, Torres might seek a new adventure in the 2024 summer transfer window.
Recent reports have linked Ferran Torres with a possible departure in the January transfer window. But the Spaniard is committed to Barcelona until the end of the 2023/24 season. Meanwhile, despite the player’s struggles, interest in him remains high, with Tottenham Hotspur joining the race to sign him.
Tottenham Calling?
At Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou has a crowded attack in the first-team squad. But a closer look reveals that Richarlison faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium despite an upturn in form. So, it behoves the North London club to invest in a versatile attacker, bringing Torres into the picture.
With the Spanish international likely to seek greener pastures in the summer transfer window, a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium might be on the cards. But Barcelona might not recoup the €55 million they paid to secure his services. Nonetheless, if Torres feels he has unfinished business in the Premier League, joining Tottenham might be appealing.
But the 23-year-old is popular in the market, with Newcastle United and Atletico Madrid also interested in him. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can beat the competition to sign the Spaniard from Barcelona next summer.
