Manchester United will reportedly consider signing Youssef En-Nesyri from La Liga club Sevilla as an alternative to Serhou Guirassy.
According to a report by The Sun, Youssef En-Nesyri is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are in the market for a striker heading into the January transfer window. But their top target, Serhou Guirassy, prefers a move to Tottenham, forcing them to turn to La Liga for the alternative.
Who is Youssef En-Nesyri?
Youssef En-Nesyri has established himself as one of the most underrated strikers in La Liga in the last few years. The Moroccan international has been in Spain since 2015, arriving from his homeland over eight years ago. He rose to prominence during his stint with CD Leganes but has taken his game to the next level at Sevilla CF.
The 26-year-old has been among the best performers for Sevilla since arriving at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium nearly four years ago. While he has not been prolific this season, he has a decent tally of nine goals and two assists thus far. Meanwhile, En-Nesyri’s progress has not gone unnoticed.
The former Leganes striker was particularly popular after his exploits at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where he helped Morocco script a historic campaign by reaching the semi-finals. Many well-known Premier League clubs were keen on ending his stint in La Liga in the two transfer windows this year. His next destination might be Manchester United.
Manchester United Calling?
The Red Devils are keen on signing a striker in the January transfer window. Anthony Martial does not have a future at Old Trafford, with Manchester United ready to part ways with him. In addition, with Rasmus Hojlund yet to score a domestic goal since arriving from Atalanta, Manchester United can do with an alternative.
Serhou Guirassy is thus the top target for Manchester United. But the report has claimed that the VfB Stuttgart striker is keen on joining Tottenham Hotspur instead. So, the Red Devils need an alternative to Guirassy, with Youssef En-Nesyri emerging on their radar.
The 26-year-old has proven himself in La Liga in the last few seasons. He was also exceptional for Morocco at the World Cup. So, he might be ready for a challenge in the Premier League. It will be interesting to see if a move to Manchester United sees the light of day in January.
