Chelsea weigh up intensifying pursuit of Aaron Ramsdale

Chelsea are keen on securing the services of Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale in the January transfer window.

Aaron Ramsdale has struggled for regular game time at Arsenal since the arrival of David Raya, and he has been linked with an exit. A report from talkSPORT has claimed that Chelsea could now intensify their pursuit of the England international.

Ramsdale is undoubtedly a proven performer in the Premier League, and he helped Arsenal challenge for the league title last season. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for most clubs in the country. So, it is no surprise that Chelsea are keen on him.

Robert Sanchez is currently sidelined with a knee injury, and Chelsea are seeking a quality replacement. The 25-year-old Arsenal star will be desperate to prove his quality in the Premier League after falling down the pecking order at the Emirates. The opportunity to showcase its qualities for a big club like Chelsea could be an attractive option for him.

The Blues will be able to provide him regular football, and they could offer him a lucrative contract as well. Chelsea have spent substantial amounts of money on new signings since the takeover, and they are hoping to put together a formidable squad capable of challenging for major trophies.

Ramsdale showed last season that he is good enough to play regularly for a club pushing for the league title, and he would be a solid addition to the Chelsea starting lineup. But recent reports have claimed Arsenal are not prepared to let him leave in January.

The Gunners might prefer to hold on to him until the summer transfer window. Letting him leave midway through the season would leave Arsenal with just one quality goalkeeper. And given the fact that they are competing in the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League, that not might be a desired option for them.

Meanwhile, Ramsdale will be hoping to cement his place in the England starting lineup for the Euro 2024, and he will not be able to do that without regular game time. Leaving Arsenal in January could be ideal for his career.
