West Ham United have suffered a huge blow in their pursuit of 26-year-old Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.
According to a report by 90min, West Ham United are keen on having Dominic Solanke in their ranks. The 26-year-old Bournemouth striker has been on the radar of the Hammers for a while now and they want to acquire his services in the winter transfer window. But, it seems they have hit a major roadblock.
Solanke came through the ranks at Chelsea before making a move to Liverpool in the winter of 2017. After a decent spell with the Merseyside club, he joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2019 and has gone from strength to strength since.
The 26-year-old has featured in 189 matches for the Cherries and has contributed towards 91 goals. In the ongoing season, he has eight goal contributions in 15 outings. The former Liverpool striker has already scored six goals in the Premier League, matching his best-ever tally in the top flight.
His impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed and there is interest in his services. West Ham United are keen on acquiring his services. The Hammers were interested in him back in the summer and they even enquired about his services. But, the Cherries were not ready to part ways with the 26-year-old.
Bournemouth’s stance on the future of the former Chelsea striker hasn’t changed. They won’t entertain any offers in the winter. They feel Solanke could play a vital role in helping them survive in the top flight. He could be the difference between them surviving and getting relegated.
With the Cherries not ready to negotiate his departure, the Hammers will have to look at other options. They are in need of a new number. Their star striker Michail Antonio has picked up an injury during the international break and he could be out for a while as we await the results of further scans.
If Antonio is out for a few months, West Ham will have no options but to push hard for a new number nine. And, according to the report, Paris Saint-Germain striker Hugo Ekitike is another option and they can sign him on loan.
