Juventus prefer Kalvin Phillips to Thomas Partey

Juventus will reportedly prefer to sign Kalvin Phillips instead of Thomas Partey in the January transfer window.

Juventus have been keeping tabs on Thomas Partey, but a report from TEAMtalk has claimed that the Serie A giants prefer a move for Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips instead.

Both Phillips and Partey have been linked with moves away from their respective clubs in recent weeks. Phillips has struggled for regular game time since his move to Manchester City, and he needs to join a club where he will get ample first-team action.

If Juventus can promise some regular game time, the opportunity to join them could be an attractive option for him. Meanwhile, the €50 million Arsenal star has been linked with a January move, and it remains to be seen whether he can find a suitable club.

Manchester City could be open to selling Phillips in the upcoming window if there is a substantial offer on the table. They will probably feel that this is the right time to cut their losses on the England international and invest in a quality midfielder.

Meanwhile, Phillips needs a fresh start as well. He should look to join a club where he will get regular game time during the second half of the season, and leaving Manchester City would be ideal for him.

As far as Partey is concerned, Arsenal will have to replace him adequately. He has been a useful servant for them since joining the club from Atletico Madrid. The Gunners will have to bring in a quality partner for Declan Rice, and it remains to be seen who they end up signing.

Both players have shown their quality in the past, and they would be quality acquisitions for Juventus if the Serie A giants can secure an agreement. The Bianconeri need to sign a quality midfielder during the January transfer window, especially after the fiasco involving Paul Pogba. The 2018 World Cup winner is likely to be sidelined for a significant amount of time after testing positive for doping.

Phillips has proven himself in the Premier League with Leeds United, and he could be a key player for Juventus if he can regain that sharpness and confidence. He is a younger and more mobile option compared to the Arsenal star, and it is hardly a surprise that the Italian giants would prefer to sign him instead of Partey.
