Arsenal ready to sell Kai Havertz for €40 million

Arsenal are reportedly considering selling Kai Havertz for €40 million, with Real Madrid being an option if they return with an interest.

According to Defensa Central, Arsenal are considering selling summer signing Kai Havertz for €40 million, meaning they are willing to take a massive loss on their €65 million investment. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich were previously interested. But there are doubts about a January deal.

The Kai Havertz story has become a favourite topic for media outlets to talk about when it comes to Arsenal. The German attacker has not produced the goods since joining the Gunners during the summer. But that has much to do with his change in position.

Mikel Arteta has constantly defended the summer signing when asked persistent questions about his performances. Yet, there is a massive difference in his displays at Arsenal compared to his former sides, Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen.

The big difference here is that Havertz seems like they chose Granit Xhaka’s replacement, and he has somewhat played well in that unfamiliar midfield role. Fans and pundits alike have not shown him full support despite some notable performances for the Gunners.

Many have already given their verdict that Havertz was a waste of money for Arsenal and that he has no place in this squad. Arteta certainly thinks otherwise, as he continues to value the German’s versatility over his per-game performances.

Now, a report from Spain has claimed that the Arsenal summer signing can leave the club if the north Londoners can get at least €40 million from suitors. At that price, the Gunners would be taking a massive loss on their €65 million investment, and there may just be rumours at this stage.

Real Madrid were reportedly keen during the summer, alongside Bayern Munich, who wanted to beat Arsenal for Havertz’s signature. Neither of those deals materialised as the Gunners swept aside competition to bring the Germans to the Emirates.

However, amid the constant pressure on his shoulders, the media has now declared that Arsenal are willing to sell him, which indeed appears unlikely. Moreover, the Real Madrid boat must have sailed, especially ahead of January, a window the Spanish giants rarely do business in.

Barcelona also had links to Havertz. But at this stage of their financial turmoil, it is unlikely in their means to even spend €40 million on a player like Havertz. Arteta is likely to keep faith in his expensive acquisition and continue to redevelop him in that midfield role, as the German does appear to have a long-term future at the club.
