Manchester City are interested in Takefusa Kubo and could keep watch on the Real Sociedad star ahead of future windows.
According to Team Talk, Manchester City are keen to look at Takefusa Kubo as the 22-year-old La Liga winger interests Pep Guardiola. The Premier League champions face massive competition from rivals, particularly Real Madrid, in the hunt for the Real Sociedad star.
Pep Guardiola wants to improve his Manchester City squad and wants to make some key additions that improve the attacking side of the team. He is also keen on bringing in a defender to complement Rodri after failing to get the best out of Kalvin Phillips, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes.
Similarly, he sees a place in the attacking side that can make a difference on the pitch. Now, there are a few concerns in future windows, specifically next summer, as Man City could potentially lose Bernardo Silva to a roval abroad.
Replacing the talents of the Portuguese will concern Guardiola, but irrespective of whether Silva stays, he is looking for a young attacker. The manager wants a versatile presence who can develop his game in multiple areas, notably the wing and central attacking positions.
Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo becomes the latest player linked with Manchester City. The Japanese international has had a fantastic start to the season. He has already scored five times for the Spanish side and continues to attract the attention of some top clubs.
Manchester City are keeping constant tabs and will continue to do so for the time being. Ideally, they will look to sign him next summer, but they could accelerate their pursuit due to the dangers of losing him to another club, notably Real Madrid.
Real Madrid pose the biggest threat to Man City or any club keen on Kubo. The 22-year-old La Liga winger remains open to a return to the Spanish capital, but only on certain conditions. Those involve becoming an integral part of the team going forward.
Another report stated that Real Madrid could utilise the clause in Kubo’s contract and sell him on for a profit. The 22-year-old La Liga winger has a release clause worth €60 million, valid for clubs other than Real Madrid, who can sign him for slightly over €30 million.
Hence, Man City might accelerate their efforts to sign Kubo for his release clause rather than potentially paying a higher price to Real Madrid. For now, the 22-year-old will continue to perform for Real Sociedad, but the La Liga side may soon have to entertain massive interest in their key star.
