Jadon Sancho could join Borussia Dortmund if two conditions are fulfilled

Borussia Dortmund faces two major hurdles in their attempt to re-sign Jadon Sancho, with the 23-year-old likely to seek an exit.

According to Team Talk, Jadon Sancho could rejoin Borussia Dortmund if the German side can clear up two important hurdles at their end. Finances are one, but more importantly, they have players in the 23-year-old Manchester United ace’s position stacked at the club.

Jadon Sancho has yet to feature for Manchester United since the end of August and may have already played his last game for the club. His future at Old Trafford looks bleak with each passing day without an apology to manager Erik ten Hag.

The 23-year-old Manchester United ace had a fallout with Ten Hag over some public claims made by the Dutchman. With the winger’s conduct, the club reportedly sought an apology from Sancho, something he has refused to oblige.

Ten Hag has since banished Sancho from first-team training. He also banned him from using many of the facilities at their Carrington training centre. There were reports that an apology this late in the drama would have no consequence in Manchester United’s decision to axe the forward.

Following Manchester United’s disastrous start to the season, Sancho had secretly hoped the club would sack Ten Hag. However, the Red Devils continue to back the Dutchman, and the chances of the 23-year-old outlasting the head coach appear slim.

Manchester United were reportedly open to subsidising Sancho’s wages in order to help him seal a move elsewhere. There were rumblings about interest from various corners, as some notable clubs could take their chances on the winger.

Sancho was also linked with a return to Borussia Dortmund. The German side sold him for a whopping £73 million in 2021 after some stellar performances from him. The same hasn’t materialised at Manchester United, where Sancho has 12 goals and six assists in 82 games.

Dortmund have good relations with Sancho’s camp. They face two big hurdles before they can re-sign the 23-year-old Manchester United ace. For starters, they may have to re-think the finances despite anticipating a cut-price fee for the winger. The major hurdle here is his £300,000-a-week wages, as Sancho would expect to get paid at least half that.

Secondly, they have too many players in a similar position to Sancho in their squad. Hence, they may have to make some space in the team to accommodate the winger, but it may come at an expense. Some suggestions coming from Dortmund in the report question the idea of re-signing Sancho.

For the winger, playing regular football could become the most immediate need. Hence, a loan move somewhere would make more sense. In the last two years, Sancho has lost much of his confidence, as Dortmund must note he’s not the same player they sold in 2021.

Leaving Manchester United in January is a straightforward idea. Yet, it’s more complicated, especially due to Sancho’s wages. While all parties would want a move elsewhere, Sancho will re-think the loss of pay he could incur due to moving out prematurely, even to Dortmund.
