Inter Milan want to secure Federico Dimarco future

Inter Milan will soon offer Federico Dimarco, a target for Real Madrid, a new contract worth €4 million per year to ward off his suitors.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Federico Dimarco is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues view the 25-year-old as a long-term left-back solution at the Santiago Bernabeu. But Inter Milan will look to tie him to a new contract worth €4 million per season, hiking his current €2.5 million-a-year wages.

Federico Dimarco has established himself as a pivotal figure for Inter Milan in the last two seasons. The Italian international had struggled to find a stable footing at San Siro after graduating from the Serie A club’s academy. But he has come leaps and bounds since returning from a successful loan spell at Hellas Verona.

The 25-year-old has turned out over 100 times thus far for the Nerazzurri, chipping in with nine goals and 18 assists. Meanwhile, Dimarco’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. But the player has insisted that he is committed to Inter Milan and wants a new contract.

Recent reports have linked the burgeoning full-back with many Premier League bigwigs, including Manchester United. But the equation has changed with the emergence of Real Madrid in the race to sign him. And Carlo Ancelotti is pushing the Spanish giants to prise the player away from Inter Milan.

Ferland Mendy faces an uncertain future at Real Madrid after seeing his stock drop due to his fitness troubles. The French international has not been dependable for Real Madrid for a few seasons. So, Los Blancos might cash in on him in the 2024 summer transfer window, creating room for a new left-back.

Dimarco has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid, who will also look at other left-backs like Alphonso Davies. But the Italian international might not join the Merengues, with Inter Milan keen on tying him to a new contract. They are ready to considerably hike his salary from €2.5 million to €4 million per year.

The development will be a blow to Real Madrid’s prospects, especially with Dimarco pledging his future to Inter Milan. But with the Merengues also having other left-backs on their shortlist, they might not fret much.
