Barcelona ready to pay €30 million to sign Gabriel Moscardo

Barcelona will happily cough up €30 million to sign 18-year-old Brazilian midfield sensation Gabriel Moscardo from Corinthians.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Gabriel Moscardo is the subject of interest from Barcelona. Corinthians will demand €30 million to part ways with the teenage Brazilian midfield sensation. And Barcelona will happily meet the Timao’s valuation to sign the young holding midfielder.

Gabriel Moscardo has spent his formative years thus far in his homeland. The 18-year-old has been with his current club, Corinthians, since 2017. And he has come leaps and bounds in the last half a dozen years, rising through the ranks in the youth division before breaking into the first-team squad this season.

The Brazilian midfield sensation made his first-team debut in June 2023 and has gradually become a regular for the senior squad. Gabriel has turned out 27 times for the first team and the under-20 side. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs.

The summer transfer window brought links with Chelsea, who came close to securing his services. But a move failed to materialise before the deadline on September 1. The Blues retained their interest in the teenage sensation last month but have since moved on. But several other well-known clubs, including Barcelona, are interested.

Barcelona’s interest in Gabriel emerged midway through September. And they have stepped up their efforts to secure the youngster’s services since then. Recent reports have claimed that Deco has made the first moves to bring the player to Catalonia. The latest update reveals Barcelona’s comfort level in meeting his valuation.

Corinthians will demand €30 million to part ways with the 18-year-old midfield prodigy. And Barcelona will have no qualms about shelling out the required sum to land him. The update seems intriguing, considering the Catalan giants remain in financial turmoil.

Barcelona focused on cost-effective deals in the summer transfer window, with the situation forcing them to sign Oriol Romeu instead of a younger midfielder. But with the Spaniard being on the wrong side of 30, it behoves Barcelona to scour the market for a long-term replacement.

Gabriel is thus a viable target for Barcelona, who will be happy to pay €30 million to secure his services. The teenage Brazilian midfield sensation can learn the ropes from Romeu and Ilkay Gundogan before becoming a regular. And it will be interesting to see if a move materialises in 2024.
