Tim Sherwood claims Yves Bissouma is better than Moises Caicedo

Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has claimed that Yves Bissouma is better than Chelsea’s summer signing Moises Caicedo.

Moises Caicedo completed a British transfer record move to Stamford Bridge, but Tim Sherwood believes that the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma is better than the Chelsea midfielder.

The Ecuadorian midfielder was regarded as one of the finest young talents in the Premier League before his move to Chelsea. So, it is hardly a surprise that he cost an absurd amount of money earlier this summer. Liverpool were prepared to spend a club-record fee on the midfielder as well.

There is no doubt that the 21-year-old is a prodigious talent with a big future ahead of him, and he could develop into one of the best midfielders in the world. However, former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood is of the opinion that Bissouma has been better than the 21-year-old Chelsea signing.

There is no doubt that the Tottenham midfielder has been outstanding so far this season, and he seems to have found a new lease of life under Ange Postecoglou. And Sherwood expressed his opinion on the No Tippy Tappy Football Show.

“Outstanding. I think Postecoglou’s got to get all the credit for that because he’s all of a sudden put an arm around the boy and said fresh start. No matter what the manager previously felt of you, this is the way we’re going to play. I think it will suit your style. I want you to play with a lot of freedom, want you to drift with the ball like he does,” he told No Tippy Tappy Football.

“He goes through the holes. It’s alright passing it through the lines, this boy moves through lines and drives with it, dribbles. Sees a pass, wins the ball back, drives up and down for the team, really enjoys his play. Fans are loving him at the moment, whereas if you had asked them last season we’ve got to get rid of him.”

“I mean he was a fantastic player at Brighton. And we talked about players who leave Brighton and go to bigger clubs and it takes some time. This boy’s alive now. Fantastic. For me, it’s a big statement because Caicedo’s gone for a lot of money, but I think he’s got more to his game than Caicedo.”

The Malian initially struggled under former manager Antonio Conte but he has recaptured his peak form under the new manager. Bissouma has been one of the first names on the team sheet for Tottenham this season, and he has been crucial to their impressive start to the campaign.

Tottenham are currently second in the league table, and they will hope to secure Champions League qualification and push for domestic trophies. Bissouma needs to build on his impressive start this season and help Tottenham perform at a high level this season.

The 28-year-old was regarded as one of the finest defensive midfielders in the league during his time at Brighton. However, his debut season did not go according to plan at the north London club. He will be delighted to have bounced back strongly and the fans will hope that he can prove his worth over the next few months.

It is hard to compare the two players right now especially with Caicedo joining a new club. The 21-year-old will need time to adapt to his new surroundings. In addition to that, Bissouma is at the peak of his powers and he has had more than a season to adapt to his new club.

There is no doubt that both players could be outstanding options for their respective clubs and they could go on to have impressive careers as well. Chelsea will certainly hope that their club record signing can hit top form in the coming weeks and help them bounce back strongly.
