Chelsea ponder loaning Andrey Santos as sweetener to land Brennan Johnson

Chelsea might offer Andrey Santos on loan to Nottingham Forest to sweeten the deal for Brennan Johnson, a target for Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Brennan Johnson is the subject of interest from Chelsea. And the Blues are considering a part-exchange deal which will see Andrey Santos join Nottingham Forest on loan. Meanwhile, the Welsh international is also a target for Tottenham, with Forest demanding around £50 million to part ways with him.

Brennan Johnson has been a consistent performer for Nottingham Forest since breaking into the first-team squad a few years ago. The 22-year-old spent all his formative years with the Midlands club before making his senior bow as an 18-year-old in August 2019. And after spending the 2020/21 season on loan at Lincoln City, he has come leaps and bounds.

The Welsh international is a regular for his club and country, establishing himself as a pivotal figure for both teams. And he has featured in both games thus far this term for Nottingham Forest. Johnson’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur among his prospective suitors.

Johnson has been on Tottenham’s radar for a long time. And the North London giants remain keen on signing the versatile attacker in the ongoing transfer window. Meanwhile, Tottenham’s interest in the player is hardly surprising, considering Harry Kane has left a gaping hole in the offensive unit.

But it is unclear if Tottenham will shell out £50 million to secure Johnson’s services this summer. Nonetheless, the player is keen on moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the ongoing transfer window. That should be a blow for Chelsea’s hopes, with the Blues recently emerging as a suitor.

Recent reports claimed that Chelsea submitted an enquiry for the Welsh international. And with Nottingham Forest interested in Andrey Santos, the Blues might have a trick up their sleeves. The report claims that Chelsea might offer the Brazilian wonderkid on loan to Nottingham Forest to sweeten the deal.

A part-exchange deal might also bring down the asking price of £50 million. But with the 22-year-old keen on joining Tottenham, Chelsea will have an uphill task to secure his signature. It will be interesting to see if a move to Stamford Bridge sees the light of day.
