Crystal Palace in pole position to sign Dean Henderson

Crystal Palace are ahead of Nottingham Forest in the race to sign 26-year-old Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Dean Henderson is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. And the Eagles are the front-runners in the race to sign the 26-year-old. The out-of-favour goalkeeper will likely leave Manchester United in the ongoing transfer window.

Dean Henderson has been with Manchester United for over a decade. He began his youth career at Carlisle United, spending six years at the club. And he rapidly rose through the ranks after joining Manchester United in 2011. But apart from the 2020/21 season, he has not managed to establish a foothold at Old Trafford.

The English international enjoyed a solid 2020/21 campaign with Manchester United. But after spending most of the 2021/22 season on the bench, he wanted to embark on a new challenge. And Henderson had a decent loan spell at Nottingham Forest last term, keeping six clean sheets in 20 appearances.

But the 26-year-old is back to square one after returning from his loan spell at the City Ground. And he will unlikely usurp Andre Onana as the first-choice goalkeeper in the new season. So a move away from Manchester United is the best solution for him. And Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are keen on signing him.

The Tricky Trees have been pursuing a deal for Henderson for a long time. But talks between Nottingham Forest and Manchester United have not yielded the desired results. So the player’s move to Nottingham Forest has broken down. And the update led to Crystal Palace emerging as a suitor.

Recent reports have claimed that the Eagles have opened talks with Manchester United for the 26-year-old. And amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Vicente Guaita, the Englishman is a viable target for Crystal Palace. And the report has pointed to the South London club being in the pole position to land him.

Henderson’s future at the club level remains uncertain. But with his Manchester United career going nowhere, it behoves him to seek a summer departure. And it will be interesting to see if the 26-year-old joins Crystal Palace in the coming days.
