Crystal Palace are exploring a move for 26-year-old PL-relegated striker Kelechi Iheanacho to bolster their attacking options.
The Sun has listed many targets of Crystal Palace, including Kelechi Iheanacho, as the Eagles could ramp up their efforts in the last ten days of the window. The Leicester City star would be open to returning to the Premier League after suffering relegation from the Premier League last season.
Kelechi Iheanacho has been productive at Leicester City since moving from Manchester City. In his career, a significant chunk of his game have come for the Foxes, making 150 Premier League appearances and scoring 30 goals. He has also contributed with 23 assists, showing his creative side.
The 26-year-old PL-relegated striker may not envisage life in the Championship and will remain hopeful of securing a return to the top flight if an opportunity arrives in the last phase of the window. Everton were interested earlier, but now Crystal Palace are also keen.
Crystal Palace want a new striker to change how they attack. Jean-Philippe Mateta could exit if a reasonable offer arrives, while Odsonne Edouard cannot take up the mantle for a whole season. There were links to Che Adams of Southampton, who is in a similar contractual position to Iheanacho.
The 26-year-old forward has a year left with the Foxes, and like many of their other big names, he could depart the King Power. Palace may have to push with a compelling offer ti stand a chance, and the Nigerian could bring something different for the Eagles.
Roy Hodgson continues to look at options that improve their game in the final third. They were dangerously close to losing star attacker Michael Olise after Chelsea activated a reported release clause. In a dramatic U-turn, the winger chose to sign a new deal at Selhurst Park, and now the manager will find someone to complement his and Eberechi Eze’s talents.
Iheanacho will evolve in this system under Hodgson, which requires a physical forward capable of creating and scoring many goals. Mateta and Edouard are not that; with the Nigerian, they could have a different dimension.
Leicester City will look for a decent deal from Crystal Palace to sell the Nigerian, but the Foxes don’t have a choice. Either keep him and improve their chances of promotion to the Premier League, which could see the forward leaving on a free or sell him if a suitable offer arrives.
